Scientists have identified cellular processes that fluctuate according to circadian rhythms, including the way skin ages.

These included a natural cellular “recycling” process that removes cellular “debris”, such as damaged proteins and lipids, and other natural rhythmic skin activities that produce new proteins, including collagen and a protein that restores the skin barrier.
